CAMEL, October 2015
Greetings unto the Kingdom from Crux Australis Principal Herald,
This month continues to show the hard work of the College, especially
Rocket Herald, in bringing so many names and devices to successful
registration. Congratulations to all those listed below, particularly
those that have needed more than one attempt to successfully put
documentation together. I know the Canton of Vallon d’Or will be well
pleased with their heraldic efforts finally resulting in their chosen
branch name being registered.
This month also brought me quite a few questions regarding the
submission process and how long it takes, so it seems to be a good time
to remind the Kingdom how the submissions process currently works (much
faster than it used to).
Once a gentle has settled on a likely name and/or device, the process
takes around 6 months, as follows:
Sometime in October – The consulting herald submits the forms by email
(or snail mail) to Rocket Herald
November – The submission spends the next whole month in Kingdom
commentary. Unless clearly unregistrable issues are found by Kingdom
commenters, the submission moves to….
December and January – 2 months of Society level commentary. From the
start of this period, the submission’s progress can be tracked online at
http://oscar.sca.org/index.php?action=181
February and March – The Sovereigns of Arms review the commentary and
make their decisions. The decisions are summarised on a letter which
then goes through several passes of proofreading.
Mid-March – The final letter is published, stating officially that the
submission has been accepted or returned.
If you have more questions about the submissions process, please ask a
nearby herald or email me at herald@lochac.sca.org.
