The Lochac College of Heralds is proud to present the Book of Ceremonies of A.S. 60 / 2025, as designed and developed by the Honourable Lady Amanda Martel (in her role as Bombarde Herald) and Mistress Gwen verch David.
This Book includes both the ceremonies themselves and a guidance section for the benefit of court heralds and Crowns, and will be updated as needed to add new awards or modify existing ones. If you would like to download the whole Book of Ceremonies as one PDF file for printing (176 pages including guidance), click the button below.
We also present to you the Commonplace Book, a book of Commonplace Ceremonies for General Occasions. It contains the general ceremonies and the awards below the level of the Peerages, while excluding event-specific ceremonies for Crown Tourney, Coronation, and Baronial Investiture. The Commonplace Book is only 43 pages long, but will see a prepared herald through any court that doesn’t come with forewarning of containing those special items of business.
For those who prefer some different arrangement of their ceremony book, we present a full set of ceremonies below, with PDFs for each individual ceremony and compiled PDFs for each section. These are presented in the order used for the main Book of Ceremonies.

Peerage Ceremonies
Peerage Ceremonies Combined File
As the Peerage Ceremonies of Lochac have many things in common, we have also created an ‘omnibus’ ceremony that takes advantage of these similarities. Where the ceremonies for the Orders are different, we have included the words for each, but by only separating out the words for those areas of difference, the Combined Ceremony for Any Peerage takes up only 11 pages, compared to the 35 pages of the total set above. This Combined Ceremony is not included in the main Book of Ceremonies, but we offer it as an aide to the court herald who wishes to be prepared for the unexpected while carrying a bit less paper.

Guidance
Court is complex, and ceremony scripts alone are not sufficient to equip court heralds, royal households, and royal personages to manage all of the complexities. In this guidance section we have attempted to write down some of the unwritten rules of common Kingdom practice. Court is an art rather than a science, however, and so we have focused on explaining the range of possibilities and exploring the reasons why choices might be made one way rather than another in particular circumstances. We hope that this guidance will support those new to managing court, and contribute to a shared understanding among everyone involved of what makes court work.
For prospective peers (and those assisting them), we have also included a substantial document going through all the elements common to peerage ceremonies in Lochac, explaining the options for customisation of each element, and why they might be chosen.
We also note, for those running events, that the second page of the ‘Arranging Thrones’ document includes an explanation of standard throne precedence, and a diagram of how thrones are arranged according to this order. This page was designed to be suitable to be printed out, so it can be kept with the thrones themselves, and referred to when setting up for court at events.
