It is the custom of Laurel Sovereigns to indicate particularly good heraldry with “Nice device!” and good names similarly. In the full summary, I count an unprecedented NINE “nices” out of seventeen registrations, which is marvellous. My compliments to the submitters and their heralds.
There were a couple of returns as well. Rocket Herald will be in touch to discuss these and give the unlucky submitters a path forward.
Once again, the time from initial submission to final registration for some of these has been very short indeed. Lord William and Lady Morwenna, for example, got their paperwork to Rocket Herald in time for his June 2012 Letter. This was discussed among the heralds using the spiffy OSCAR (Online System for Commentary And Response) and survived that without any particular difficulty. They were formally ruled on in September, and after appropriate collation of the results the Letter was published early in November. That’s five months. If your name and device are taking longer than that, contact your local herald to find out why; if you’ve been putting off getting something registered because you figure you’ll die of old age before it passes, then welcome to the new standard! The Heralds really are here to help you get good, authentic names and devices, and they’re getting better at it all the time. Please make use of the service we provide!
In service,
: Karl Faustus von Aachen, Crux Australis Principal Herald :
