CAMEL, June 2017
Unto the Heralds and Populace of Lochac, greetings.
In order to make up for my previous laxness, I sent out this CAMEL as early as possible. With it, we have some good news. I will now quote this month’s LoAR, in the RETURNS section:
LOCHAC: None.
Congratulations to the populace, consulting heralds, and those who comment: nothing was returned this month! We were one of five Kingdoms to have no returns … I feel this is a good indication of the strength of heraldry in the Knowne World (and I think the move to working from OSCAR directly is improving things).
I have been reminded that the Roster of Heralds is not up-to-date … I expect to tackle that in early July (when I will have a break from my mundane work). If you did not complete the details update, you can still do so (it will always be open, but I wanted to give a deadline for the ‘Census’) and the update will be reflected when I make the change.
Finally, as we near the end of one Reign and the start of another, it is worth reminding everyone that if you’re a herald you might find yourself helping with Court. All roster heralds, in particular, are expected to be prepared to step in and help if the Crown finds Themselves without a voice. Personally, long before I became Crux, I prepared a folder of all ceremonies (and a dozen Court Herald Award Forms) which I bring to all royal events. Even if I’m not Court Herald for the event, someone might forget their copy and so I have mine available for loan.
There are a couple of articles on the Lochac heralds’ website about running Court (along with other useful links), if you’ve never done it before. They can be found here.
Meanwhile, back to the first order of business: the following were reported as successfully registered in June (which is the April 2017 LoAR):
