Unto the Heralds and Populace of Lochac, greetings.

Firstly, in case you haven’t been keeping up with the news, Lady Amanda Martel has been announced as my successor to the role of Crux Australis. She will step up when I step down at November Crown. I look forward to seeing how she makes the position her own. I admit to some sadness in stepping down – I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Crux Australis and I am proud of all my heralds. I have tried to help improve systems and processes in heralding, but that’s thanks to the hard work and support of all my deputies, group and rostered heralds. Thank you.

There has recently been some issues with the herald’s website after the Lochac server moved that has now been fixed, so I should be able to get back on to updating the location of content. You might now notice, if you go to herald.lochac.sca.org, that the ‘Departments’ menu has been reorganised. Content will now appear under the deputy responsible – and I’ve tried to make sure that the menu options are clear even for non-heralds. Please let me know how you find this format. The content will be updated when my deputies get it to me.

Finally, in less happy news, please remind people in your groups: don’t use heraldry that belongs to other people! I’ve been hearing word of the owners of registered heraldry being upset seeing someone else with it. Now, it’s hard to know if they knew and didn’t care, or it came as a surprise … so what can we do? Help them register their heraldry! Then we’ll find out if it’s actually already taken. If it’s not then they get to protect the heraldry they clearly like. Everyone wins!
