CAMEL, March 2017
Unto the Kingdom of Lochac, greetings.
What’s this? It’s only been 16 days since the last CAMEL! What gives? Well … these missives are timed to the latest Letter of Acceptance and Returns (LoAR) from the Society College of Arms. So we now have more registrations already! Those in last months’ LoAR haven’t had their follow up letter yet, but it will come soon … there are times when life interferes. You have not been forgotten!
Lord Gunther Boese is now formally and officially Rocket Herald, commentary having ended last Friday. I believe that handover between Rocket Emeritus and Rocket has completed so Gunther Rocket should now receive any messages emailed to rocket@lochac.sca.org. Please note, for paper submissions, the new postal address on the Lochac College of Heralds website. I am working with the Society College of Arms to update our submission forms for online usage, but it is a process as all Kingdoms follow the same format so that entry into the system called OSCAR can be done simply and efficiently.
With Festival approaching, we reach the highest concentration of courts in any event in Lochac. This seems like a convenient time to remind people that we understand that some people are nervous being singled out or called up in front of other people (especially the 100s at Festival). Having said that, I think awards are nice … they let you know that people recognise your contribution to the Society. If you don’t want awards, that’s fine … but if you don’t mind awards, just can’t handle the public fuss, that’s a different matter and shouldn’t be treated the same. We can cater to both groups! Let Canon Herald know (canon@lochac.sca.org) and we can make sure that future Crowns are aware that they shouldn’t call you up in court … or perhaps allow a proxy to accept the award on your behalf. If you will refuse any awards, you can let us know too. The Dream is for everyone to participate in whatever way they are comfortable with (without making others uncomfortable). If we can avoid causing you discomfort, I want to help. I am confident the Crown agrees with me.
Meanwhile, here are the registrations that have come back successful for this month:
